PO.DAAC’s Data in Action: ECCO Helps Validate New Field of Seismic Ocean Thermometry
[26-May-2021] ECCO's multi-decadal global ocean state estimate was used to validate ocean temperature changes derived from a new method known as seismic ocean thermometry. Developed by Wu et al. (2021), this approach infers basin-scale, deep-ocean temperature changes from the travel times of sound waves that are generated by repeating earthquakes.
The ECCO datasets are now available through PO.DAAC, within the Earthdata Cloud in Amazon Web Services (AWS).
